Are you and your partner or partners feeling powerless in cycles of perpetual conflict, disconnection, and resentment?

Stress and unmet needs can create patterns in your relationship that leave you feeling distant or misunderstood. These patterns, often rooted in the subconscious, can keep you trapped in unhealthy dynamics, and traditional talk therapy alone might not address your deeper concerns.

If you are feeling like you’re trapped experiencing the same arguments within your relationship over and over, unable to break free- my couples therapy services offers a path to rebuild your connection and create a stronger, more loving partnership.

I’m Michelle Smith, LPC, LMHC, LCMHC  a licensed therapist offering virtual couples therapy for clients in New Hampshire, Florida, Oklahoma, and Oregon.

I approach couples therapy using the Gottman Method, the evidence-based "gold standard" for couples treatment, grounded in over 40+ years of research that helped determine what factors make long term relationships last!

With the Gottman Method, we focus on rebuilding a culture of appreciation by fostering gratitude and positivity in your daily interactions. You’ll learn to turn towards your partner or partners—choosing connection over distance—by learning how to respond to bids for attention, affection, or support.

We’ll also work on rebuilding your love maps, helping you deepen your understanding of each other’s inner worlds, dreams, and needs. Additionally, you’ll develop repair and conflict resolution strategies to navigate disagreements with respect and understanding, preventing emotional flooding and fostering continued healing.

Couples working with me utilizing the Gottman method will also receive a detailed report on their strengths and growth areas, which helps tailor a goal focused treatment plan designed with your relationship’s unique needs in mind.

The benefits of this approach are profound: it improves emotional connection, reduces conflict, and equips you with practical tools to sustain a healthy relationship even when you eventually “graduate” from couples therapy.

I also offer couples therapy intensives, which can be utilized with the Gottman Method, Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT) to deepen emotional bonds, exploring polyamory or ethical non-monogamy dynamics in an safe, affirming setting, or premarital counseling through the Prepare/Enrich program to build a strong foundation for your relationship.

Whether you’re facing communication breakdowns, betrayal trauma, changes with exploring polyamorous dynamics or ethical non-monogamy, or simply want to strengthen your bond, couples therapy can help you create a partnership filled with trust and love.

Ready to heal and grow together? I offer a free consultation to discuss how couples therapy can support your relationship. Visit www.michellesmithlmhc.com to book your virtual session today. Let’s work together to rebuild the love and intimacy you know you deserve!
