What are the risks of hypnosis? There is minimal risk to clinical hypnosis. The main risk may include the potential for clients not obtaining the desired results because there are unique characteristics that determine if someone is a HHI (highly hypnotizable individual) or lies somewhere on the spectrum. Most effective results from hypnosis especially for anxiety, trauma, or stress typically tend to come from light to medium trance.

What is the benefit of doing intensive therapy vs. traditional weekly therapy sessions?Intensive therapy is an accelerated format of therapy where instead of attending weekly therapy sessions over the course of months or years (and waiting just as long to see your results), you can get personalized treatment support from beginning to end- and see progress in your goals within a matter of days! For people who are looking for rapid results or have lifestyles where scheduling weekly traditional therapy does not work, this can be a wonderful option to get your therapy needs met in a quick amount of time.

What type of treatments are utilized in intensive therapy sessions? This is always a collaborative process with each individual client. Intensive therapy sessions for individuals can include treatments such as Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Somatic Therapy, and Clinical Hypnosis. For couples intensive therapy this can include modalities such as the Gottman method. Prepare/Enrich pre-marital counseling, EFCT (Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy) and other evidence based approaches tailored to your unique treatment needs.

How do I move forward with scheduling intensive sessions? If you think scheduling intensive therapy sessions sounds right for you, the first step will be to schedule our 50-minute intake session where we can assess your treatment needs and create a unique, individualized treatment plan tailored to your goals. Please contact me via email at msmith@michellesmithlmhc.com regarding your scheduling preferences.
